Tour Overview
Come to the lush green countryside of the North West and West of Ireland, with its many ancient sites, Castles, rugged coastal drives, waterfalls and cliff walks. Visit places like Mullaghmore coastal drive, Sliabh Liag, Glencar waterfall, take a drive around Lough Gill. Spend a day in the City of the Tribes (Galway). There is so much to see and do, and of course you can't visit this area without taking in some traditional music in the pubs in Sligo town.
Suggested Itinerary
Day 1.
You pick up you rental car from the airport when you arrive and make your way to the North West, on the way there are some interesting places you can visit. You could visit Belvedere House just outside Mullingar, This is an Estate house with a lot of history going back to the 17th century. You can then visit the beautiful Lough Key Forest Park where you will see an 11th century Castle ruins on an island and you can take a walk around the park. You make your way to your accommodation which is a small, rural, Country family run hotel. You will receive a warm Irish welcome and will be treated like family while there.
Day 2
Today you can take a relaxing drive to Mullaghmore in North Sligo where you can take a breath-taking coastal drive. You can also visit the famous Lissadell house where the world renowned poet WB Yeats stayed. There are some beautiful beaches that you can check out, Strandhill, Rosses Point, Dunmoran beach.
Day 3
WYou can drive to Donegal today to visit the stunning Sliabh Liag Cliffs. Take a picnic with you because you won't want to leave this place. You can take some time in Donegal town and do a little exploring. Visit the castle and the ruins of the Abbey there.
Day 4
Go to Co Mayo today and visit Downpatrick Head. This is beautiful cliff scenery too and then you should go to the Céide Fields. Full of historic sites. You could stop at Enniscrone beach on your way back to your accommodation.
Day 5
Go to Galway today and enjoy the hustle and bustle on the city. Take in some of the buskers playing music on the streets or ramble in and out of some of the small craft shops. Take in the museum there and then take a drive out by the coast to Spiddal Craft village. You will hear people speaking the Irish language and see some amazing crafts on display in the little shops they have there.
Day 6
Return to Dublin today, and take in the city. You can take a hop on/hop off bus. All the important venue's will be pointed out to you and you can get off at any of them and then hop back on. You can explore the Temple bar area or if you like whiskey you can visit the Whiskey museum or take in Jameson Distillery or Guinness Store house. Tonight you stay in Swords in a 3 star hotel. You are 5 mins from the airport.
Day 7
Back to the airport today and say goodbye to Ireland until the next time.
