Secret Ireland Tours are delighted to join forces with the Irish Heritage Center of Greater Cincinnati to offer their patrons, friends and fans a 9 Day/8 Night tour to Ireland. We have put together a tour that takes in the best of what Ireland has to offer. Culture, history, food, scenery, ancient sites, beaches, musicians, dancers, singers, waterfalls, holy places, highest cliffs in Europe, but most of all we want to introduce you to its amazing people!

We take you to places like Arus an Uacharáin which is the residence of the Irish president, the beautiful relaxing Botanic Gardens, the historic Hill of Tara, Glencar waterfall, Knock Shrine and so much more.

We will also have some famous musicians ready to entertain you too! 

We stay in two premiere hotels in Swords which is near the airport on our first night, we then go to the North West where we stay in a 4 star hotel  for 6 nights which is right beside the beach and a golf course, so if you want to spend a day golfing or enjoying the beach, just a 5 min walk will get you there. On our last night we stay in the magnificent 4 star 18th century  Fitzpatricks Castle hotel in Killiney South Dublin. 

We offer an amazing 12 month installment plan if you wish to choose it, or we can talk to you about a plan that suits you. We are very flexible. We are offering an early bird $100 discount per person if you book your place before Dec 15th 2021. 

Itinerary
Subject to slight change, depending on availability, overcrowding, weather, delays, 

Day 1

We meet you at terminal 2 arrivals hall at Dublin airport at 9am on the morning of 9th Sept and bring you into Dublin city center where we will give you a bus tour of all the landmarks in Dublin. We then bring you to the Phoenix Park where we see the residence of the President of Ireland (Arus an Uacharáin and visit Farmliegh House. We then visit the National Botanic Gardens before we have a ramble through the famous Temple Bar area. We return to our hotels in Swords where we can settle in and have an evening meal there. Hotels are forty four on Main st and Carnegie Court Hotel

Day 2

North West bound today, but on our way we visit the Historic Hill of Tara, which is a hill and ancient ceremonial and burial site near Skryne Co MeathAccording to tradition, it was the inauguration place and seat of the High Kings of Ireland. 

Our next stop is Lough Key Forest park just outside Boyle in Co Roscommon. There we can relax on the shores of lough Key while viewing an 11th century Castle, there are canopy walks, tunnel walks, fairy bridges, wishing chairs, zip lines and all sorts of Magical places.  We then go to our 4 star Yeats Country hotel in Rosses Point where we stay for the next 6 nights.

Day 3

We spend the morning visiting local sites today. First of all we bring you to the last resting place of our famous poet WB Yeats. People come from all over the world to visit his grave and while we are there you can enjoy a lovely little art gallery and a craft shop full of local items. We then take a trip to Glencar waterfall and lake. Relax and enjoy the sounds and beauty of this magical place. We then go on to visit Tobernalt Holy which is just outside of Sligo town. A very special place with a sad history, but while there you will see how Christianity and paganism worked hand in hand. We then go into Sligo town and enjoy a session of music by some outstanding local musicians.

Day 4

Scenic drive today. We take you along the rugged coastline of North Sligo at Mullaghmore where we stop for a short while to take photos, then we make our way to Sliabh Liag in Donegal. These are the highest cliffs in Europe and Donegals version of the Cliffs of Moher but nicer. Photo's and video do not do justice to this breath-taking place. We then spend a couple of hours in Donegal town where you can explore the Castle, or the Abbey ruins or just the shops and restaurants.

Day 5

We go West today. Our first stop is Knock Shrine. The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Knock, usually named only as the Knock Shrine, is a Roman Catholic pilgrimage site and National Shrine in the village of Knock, Co. Mayo, where observers stated that there was an apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Saint Joseph, Saint John the Evangelist, angels, and Jesus Christ in 1876. While there you can visit the amazing Basilica. We then go on to Galway city

where we can explore ourselves or join our tour guide where she will bring you special places that she likes to share with you. 

We then go to an Irish speaking part of Galway called Spiddal in Connemara where we visit an amazing craft village. All types of crafts men and women are there and you will hear people speak in the Irish language.

Day 6

We visit the Museum of Country life today. The museum exhibits the way of life of rural Irish people between 1850 and 1950. There are displays about the home, the natural environment, trades,  crafts, communities, and working on the land and water.

We then go to the famous Kylemore Abbey where there is a strong Cincinnati connection, but you will have to wait to hear all about that when we get there. There is also an amazing Victorian walled garden there too!

On our way back home we visit the famous traditional musician Matt Malloy's bar in Westport and we can have a pint or two there.

Day 7

We visit an ancient site of Carrowmore megalithic tombs and stone circle just outside Sligo today, which is a large group of megalithic monuments on the Cúil Irra peninsula near Sligo. They were built in the 4th millennium BCE, during the Neolithic era. There are thirty surviving tombs, placing Carrowmore among the largest and oldest complexes of megalithic tombs in Ireland. 

We then visit  Ireland's largest sanctuary for raptors and owls, the Irish Raptor Research Centre / Eagles Flying will delight you with their beauty. 

We then visit the very famous Coleman Heritage center in Gurteen Co Sligo.  one of the best equipped Irish music centres of Traditional Irish Music in Ireland and is dedicated to the memory of the legendary fiddle player, Michael Coleman (1891-1945) universally acclaimed as one of the finest traditional fiddle players of his era.

Day 8

Leaving the North West today to return to Dublin, our first stop is Strokestown House which is a unique property that includes the National Famine Museum, a beautiful Palladian house and stunning gardens. We learn all about what life was like during those times in the house. 

We then visit Belvedere House just outside Mullingar. It has a sad history full of tragedy and Jealousy. They have amazing grounds and you can see the Jealous wall too.

Night 8

We spend our last night in this beautiful Castle hotel. Fitzpartick's Castle Hotel is in the coastal town of Killiney which have some very famous residence, such as Bono, Van Morrison and many others. Sometimes you might see them stroll into the bar in the hotel. You will enjoy all the old charm of a 18th century castle but all the modern conveniences of a 4 star hotel.

So you can live like Irish royalty.

Day 9

We return you to the airport today and wish you a safe life.

We don't say goodbye but we wish you well until we see you in Ireland with us again.

In Ireland all venue's and hotels who have, or intend to open up to the public are going through Safety Charter course. Once they have concluded the course they are awarded with a Certificate. 

We make sure that all hotels and venue's that we use  have the Safety Charter Cert for your safety. We keep up to date with Government guidelines and we will act accordingly. Your health and safety is our top priority.
